A good alternative shepherding program for churches who're not ready to do cells is the Prayer Friend program - Hole 4. The first 4 headings of this file are very much in point form, especially designed for me to explain this vision to church leadership. HISTORY Theo met Cho in Japan - 3 things - strong Prayer, coupled with effective Evangelism/Discipleship and excellent LEADERSHIP TRAINING. I started Layman's School of Training - 3,500 to 10,000 in 9 years. In just a few years 'Add100' produced 60 new first generation churches - 90 new second generation churches. 3 PILLARS OF CHURCH GROWTH 1. MacGregor: I would rather train twenty men to pray, than a thousand to preach - a minister's highest mission ought to be to teach his people to pray. NB. The greatest accomplishment in life is to know and obey God, to discover and fulfill His plan for your life. It is the chief thing. To miss this is to miss the mark. In the kingdom of God, great people are those who understand this can only be accomplished first through a disciplined, intimate prayer life. I do not mean those who talk about prayer; or those who say they believe in prayer; nor those who can explain about prayer; but I mean THOSE PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE REVELATION TO TAKE TIME TO PRAY - who desire to know, discover and obey God. 2. Evangelizing the Harvest - Fishers of Men - powerful trainer/trainee follow-up program - 80% not saved - Gospel shoes. 3. Shepherding the Harvest - 'Add100' cell structure - the most exciting Church Growth concept I've seen in 28 years of studying Church Growth. Getting back to the basics - Jack Nicklaus. Before the second coming of Jesus the heart of the church will have to be turned back to the heart of God by the resurrection of the ministry of John the Baptist in the spirit and power of Elijah - Mat 17:5-13. That means the heart of the church must be turned back to the heart of the Son - the Intercessor - Heb 7:25; the heart of the Holy Spirit - the evangelist who convicts the sinner of their sin - John 16:8-11; the heart of the Father - the Shepherd - The Lord (Jehovah) is my Shepherd, I shall not want - Psa 23:1. A church that does not have the heart of God to Pray, Evangelize & Shepherd is not ready for the second coming of Jesus. O God, I pray You turn our hearts back to Yours in Jesus name. Let Your priorities become ours. We need to get back to the above basics of the clear commission of Jesus if we want to experience the success results He intended for His church. Matt 16:18 (NAU) ...I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. It's only His church if we're following His instructions - if He's making the decisions. He's not going to build our church built on our ideas, but His church built on the basic building blocks of His Word. We must have His leading and His peace guiding us. 3 ESSENTIAL 'SUPPORTING' PILLARS OF CHURCH GROWTH a. Competent weekly Management by Measurement - it is impossible to manage what is not being measured - 1Tim 3:5 - Dreams to Goals to Plans - effectively measured & Managed to results achieved. b. Biblical People Skills - accounts for 80% of the reason for our success in life - it's a 10 - we're in the people business. c. Motivation - Vision/goals/accomplishment/rewards - Rom 13:7 giving honor to whom honor is due - Appealing to the nobler motive. POINTS TO COVER IN EXPLAINING THE 'ADD100' CELL STRUCTURE (NB. The following xii points can only be clearly understood in conjunction with a live visual presentation of the 'Add100' cell structure). The reason it's called the 'Add100' cell structure is because it discovers and equips 3% of your members to each add 100 to your church over a 2 to 3 year period. In each of their 100's will be another 3% coming through the pipeline who'll do the same. The anointing on your life may build a church of 100, 300, 500 or 1,000, etc. and then hit the ceiling. To go beyond this you need to tap into the corporate anointing of the body, "Equipping the Saints for the Work of Minstry" - Eph 4:11,12. i. The classical cell structure model is built around a principle of de-motivation & has no continuity of relationship = failure. i. Draw the new 'Add100' cell structure - 8 cells x 12 members = 96 + 7 leaders totalling 103 - 1,000's, 100's, 50's, 10's. Manager from Albertson's explained to me the only way they can get promoted is to replace themselves twice over. iii. Noah's ark (structure) = type of salvation - once you provide a good responsible well managed Biblical structure, you'll be amazed how God will work with you to supernaturally fill it. Moses - leaders of 1,000's (Area Pastor), 100's (Voluntary Pastor), 50's (Elder) & 10's (Cell leader) = structure. iv. Show the critical path of a new member - church, FOM visit, intern brings to cell, invited to interns course, 80% buy in. 3:1:2 ratio - Monday night prayer - 2 intercessors from each cell birthing the family their Supervisor is evangelizing - the cell leader & 2 interns being 3 shepherds to care for them. v. FOM = the Tom Hopkins sales course, producing abundant fearless new interns. FOM = in-house missions trip. FOM = stewing pot of all your future good leaders - it removes the fear of ministry. 5-fold minister required to lead FOM. vi. Reward motivation built into the 'Add100' cell structure producing a high % of member involvement - giving honor due. vii. Quality control - each intern runs the cell in front of the Supervisor, Elder & Voluntary Pastor over a 3 month cycle. the cell happy to go with each intern who brought them into the cell as a result of a FOM visit, plus they've seen the intern successfully run the cell 3 times over 3 months - also they're still seeing their cell leader every 2nd week. Where do you get the time to be a Voluntary Pastor and run a full time job? 50 Interviewed responded, "It's not difficult because the bulk of the work gets done by our 2 well trained Elders, our 4 Supervisors and our 8 Cell Leaders". viii. Fruit of 'Add100':- 60+90=150 new churches over 5 years - you can fulfill a world vision from your town - 80% stay in the mother church. ix. Layman's School of Training - 18 hole golf course = 18 practical Bible courses - 8 live & 10 by tape correspondence. x. A good Biblical structure always chooses the right leaders for us - we like Samual choose David's 6 older brothers - every good cork will come floating to the top - no more de-Pasturizing - don't worry, no one with a wrong motive will add 100. xi. The order of the cell meeting runs on the principle of the 4 W's - Welcome (tea & icebreaker) 20 minutes, Worship 20 minutes, Word 40 minutes, Works (prayer for lost & each other) 10-20 minutes. xii. Pastor must be 100% involved for this to succeed - weekly Management by Measurement - this is not an add on to an already busy church program - it is the program. STEPS TO LAUNCH THE 'ADD100' CELL STRUCTURE IN A NEW CHURCH Cell's without (i) strong motivated Prayer for the lost and (ii) organized effective Evangelism of the lost, are only Care Groups (or bless me clubs) - not living growing Biblical organisms or cells. This process of launching integrated Prayer, Evangelism & Cells will probably take about a year of diligent teaching, training and application to get everything up and running smoothly, but it'll be well worth it for the big payoff you'll reap in return. The difference between teaching and training is that training combines teaching with on the job learning - the way Jesus did with His disciples. For a church to grow we need trained leaders who can do the job, not just taught leaders with a title, but who mostly never become leaders in function. A. Launch strong motivated Prayer to pray in the Harvest - see below. B. Launch Fishers of Men Evangelism to reap the Harvest - see below. C. Launch the 'Add100' cell structure to keep the Harvest... 1. Your first successful Fishers of Men graduates are also going to become for your first cell leaders - no one is allowed to become a cell leader who has not first graduated as a Fishers of Men trainer. Why? Because it has been tested and unequivocally proven that cell leaders with Fishers of Men training are 100% more effective than cell leaders without Fishers of Men training. Secondly, most cell leaders will one day become Supervisors (or Fishers of Men trainers) - so it's better for them to do this training sooner than later. 2. Start your first pilot training cell with your best 6-12 Fishers of Men graduates in your home. Move to a different home each week, just like you'll also do once your actual cells begin. The Pastor must teach the Interns course, and then the Cell Leaders course to these new leaders. Immediately after each teaching session run an actual training home cell meeting with the Pastor as the the cell leader for the first few weeks. In this way the Pastor is setting the tone of how he wants the cell meetings run. This is a discovery and growing together time for the Pastor and his leaders - learning together as they go - which is fine. Everyone will give their input, which is good, because if it's their idea they'll do it. However, the Pastor as a distinct jump on his leaders because of his having already studied all the cell leaders training courses available from Rev. Smiley T. Papenfus. Then the Pastor will give each trainee cell leader a turn to run the cell meeting and together they will first praise him (or her) for their strong points and then tactfully their points that have room for improvement. Some trainee cell leaders might need a second and even a third turn to run the cell meeting, till the Pastor is satisfied with each one's performance. This training could take anywhere from 3 - 6 months. 3. Now you're ready to announce the new 'Add100' cell program to your church and make the addresses of the new cell meetings known to the congregation. Preach on 'effective prayer, evangelism and cells to reach the harvest'. Introduce your newly trained cells leaders to the church. Do an alter call for all who'd like to be involved in this vision of being used by God to help reach the end time harvest. Designate all church members who've signed up to be involved in cells into the different cell groups according to their (i) interests, (ii) ages (iii) and geographical location - these are in order of their priority. It's also good to have youth cells and even children's cells (with a trained adult cell leader present to oversee the meeting). 4. Now, out of all the faithful cell attendee's, choose 2 or 3 prospective interns for each cell and invite them to the 'interns vision course' where this whole vision is effectively sold to them. If this is properly done, 80% of them should buy into the vision of the 'Add100' cell structure and their training must immediately begin. They are trained by the Cell Leader, the Supervisior (who might be the same person to begin with) and a 5-fold anointed Bible lecturer. Until we have Supervisor's, the cell leader will also be doing the weekly Fishers of Men evangelizing training of his new interns, while doing the follow up of all weekly visitors and converts. This follow up evangelism with the interns bringing of the new converts to the cell meeting, will fill his cell in a few months time, necessitating the cell to multiply. 5. The cell rotates every week between cell leaders and interns homes, and even a 4th home of a willing person with a gift of hospitality, so the burden of preparing a clean home doesn't fall on the same person every week. PRAYER REVIVAL FOR THE HARVEST - Every Pastor must get the revelation that every ministry must first be birthed and then sustained in prayer if it ever hopes to reach it's full heavenly potential of God's blueprint and design - Isa 66:8 (NAU) Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Can a land be born in one day? Can a nation be brought forth all at once? As soon as Zion travailed, she also brought forth her sons. As soon as Zion (the church) begins to travail in intercessory prayer, she'll start birthing her true spiritual children who'll in turn produce more children and reach every ministries goal of producing spiritual grandchildren - which is the foremost test of a successful ministry, because it's a way we can accurately measure if we've fulfilled the commission of Jesus to make biblical disciples who also have the ability to make new disciples, i.e. spiritual grandchildren. We need to ask ourselves how many spiritual grandchildren are our ministries producing? - Run the Prayer Revival for the Harvest seminar with the Dr. David Yonggi Cho's motivational prayer video for your entire congregation - Sunday to Wednesday - not just another prayer teaching, but a Prayer Revival for the Harvest, with the laying on of hands after each service. A transference of vision and anointing to pray is what is needed to lift every church up 10 notches to a new level of prayer. I'd be honored if you'd want us to help you in this regard - it's one of the anointings and passions of my life. - Multiply your churches prayer meetings by about 10 - before & during church - on Monday nights - also run as many morning & evening home prayer meetings as possible - in fact encourage as many small group prayer meetings as possible, where younger Christians are learning and growing by regularly praying with mature Christians - Matt 21:13 (NAS) And Jesus said to them, "It is written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer'; but you are making it a robbers' den." Do our church members today perceive of their church as being a "House of Prayer" - a place that has taught and trained them to fervently pray and intercede? H. MacGregor said, "I would rather train twenty men to pray, than a thousand to preach - a minister's highest mission ought to be to teach his people to pray." - Get your Sunday congregation praying for the lost at every service. - Once cells start let them spend 5 minutes praying for the lost at each meeting. - Everyone must carry this through into their daily prayer life - to target their praying for the lost. - Run a Monday night prayer meeting concurrent with Fishers of Men evangelism - appoint an anointed intercessor to run this prayer meeting - a stable person in authority who has the Pastors heart with motivational and leadership skills. - Launching Fishers of Men at the same time that your members have this new motivation to pray in the harvest is an important step to maintain this new momentum of prayer. It's as people see the fruit of their praying through Fishers of Men evangelism that they will be greatly encouraged to continue to pray. Conversely, Fishers of Men evangelism is fruitful because of all the well trained anointed intercessors birthing sinners from darkness to light during the Monday night prayer meeting at the very time Fishers of Men evangelists are presenting the gospel in the homes of city, making successful visits which in turn encourages them to continue in their soulwinning ministry. - After this pilot Prayer Revival for the Harvest seminar, run as many Prayer Revival for the Harvest seminars for as many new Christians as you have coming through the pipeline. We considered this course so essential to our church's growth in South Africa, that we always ran 3 Prayer Revival for the Harvest seminars every year, producing a church filled with anointed city transforming intercessors. To run the first pilot seminar correctly is of utmost importance, to set the standard for all the subsequent seminars. FISHERS OF MEN EVANGELISM - Introduce the Fishers of Men evangelism program to your church by preaching a powerful motivational and convicting series on soulwinning, culminating with a roleplay demonstration of presenting the gospel on the platform before the congregation so they can be (i) convicted to obey the commission of Jesus and (ii) catch the vision of what they will be capable of doing on completion of their Fishers of Men evangelism training. Do an alter call for soulwinners, to which 20-30% of your church members should respond. Having run the Fishers of Men evangelism program in our church in South Africa for 9 years, and successfully having raised up 1,000's of anointed evangelists who caused our church to grow from 3,500 to 10,000 members over this period, I willingly make myself available to help launch this proven and successful soulwinning ministry in your church over a Sunday am & pm service. - Select your best man to run the Fishers of Men evangelism program - he must be a good motivational leader with a 5-fold anointing upon his life, including an ability to teach the Word of God. If I as the Pastor didn't have such a man, I'd run the course myself, knowing that God would honor my obedience and raise up the right man in due time - which will more than likely be one of my students. He'll also need a good motivational secretary to assist him - one of her duties being to call the students each week to encourage them through the Fishers of Men course - knowing that satan will do all in his power to discourage and stop students from learning how to win the lost. The day your church starts Fishers of Men, panic buttons in hell are pressed to target all prospective soulwinners. That's why 2 anointed and faithful intercessors must be assigned to pray for every trainer and trainee throughout their Fishers of Men training - preferably people who know, appreciate and respect one another from the same home cell, who've already connected spiritually. - Start the first pilot Fishers of Men evangelism seminar with your 6 to 12 best people - choose faithful and loyal people from the names of those who signed up on the Sunday alter call for soulwinners - this handpicked list should hopefully include many of your current cell leaders and potential cell interns - they need this training A.S.A.P. - if they're not on this first course then they need to be on the second course. Mediocre cell leaders who graduate from Fishers of Men, first as a trainee, then also as a trainer, will amaze you at how proficient they will soon become as cell leaders because of their Fishers of Men hands on training. - Crash course this pilot class over 6 Monday nights through lectures 2 to 13, using the Fishers of Men video's (I would already have done lecture 1 on the Sunday service). These 10 trainers can train a class of 20 (or 24) trainees (we'd always take on a few extra students, allowing for a few who'd usually drop off the program).
